I'm in Asuncion!

I arrived in Asuncion 3 days ago, the weather has been wonderful actually, sunny and not cold or too warm...just perfect.

Days here go by slower...the pace is much slower, I have the impression that I actually do more things in less time, its probably just a pshycological thing, who knows?

What is Terere? For me it's a perfect excuse!

A friend of mine likes to tease me saying that the only reason I have to travel to Paraguay is to drink Terere with my friends… well, he is certainly not that wrong!!



What the heck is Terere?

Terere is a traditional Paraguayan drink, it’s like an infusion, basically it’s yerba mate herbs inside a guampa (a container typically made of cow horn). You pour cold water from a separate thermos or jar and drink the infusion through a bombilla (straw).

Chipa Guazu..Yummy!

Today I had an super delicious Chipa Guazu…it seems that i spend most of the time eating, jajaja, well perhaps its true, I know there are things that i wont be able to eat when I’m back so I’m taking advantage of the beauties of the paraguayan cuisine.



Chipa Guazu has no equivalent, its like a creamy corn cheese bread



I personally like the Chipa Guazu more than the sopa paraguaya because it is more creamy, the sopa paraguaya is a bit to dry for me…and I love the chipa… Continue

Paraguay Independence day Celebration in Seattle

We had a great Independence Celebration in May at Make's house, we had a lot of fun, paraguayan music, great traditional dishes and even a quiz about Paraguay, in which we did poorly I must admit, LOL
